Terms of Service
Effective date: August 11, 2026
These are the terms for using Suasoria (suasoria.app), a self-paced course in reasoning and argument. Suasoria is operated by Mandy Schroeder, an individual doing business as Suasoria ("Suasoria," "we," "us," "our"). It is built and run day-to-day by her son, Luke Moran-Schroeder.
Suasoria is built around an account, though you may try a lesson before making one. By creating an account, or by holding one on behalf of a child, you agree to these terms.
1. What Suasoria is
Suasoria is a curriculum in reasoning and argument, delivered as lessons, exercises, and a progress-tracking system, accessed through an account so your progress follows you across devices. Nothing about the pedagogy or the pricing here is a guarantee of any particular outcome, grade, or credential — it is a course, not a credentialing body.
2. Who can use it
Who holds an account depends on your age:
- 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live): you create and hold your own account.
- 13 to 17: you hold your own account with your own email address. Where the law where you live sets a higher age for consenting to your own data being handled — 16 in Germany and Ireland, 15 in France, 14 in Spain and Italy — we ask for a parent or guardian's email address and their agreement to these terms before the account is finished.
- Under 13: you hold your own account, but it is opened with a parent or guardian's email address, which we verify. That parent or guardian agrees to these terms on your behalf, is responsible for your use of Suasoria, and can reach or delete your progress at any time.
A child under 13 never provides their own email address and never agrees to these terms themselves. Separately, a teacher or a homeschooling parent may create logins for their students from inside their own account; where they do, that adult is the account holder and is the one bound by these terms.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of an account where you did not reasonably protect your credentials.
You may delete your account at any time from the settings page, or by writing to us. Deleting an account deletes the progress attached to it, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Suasoria does not take payments as of the effective date above. When paid plans launch, the following will apply, and this section will be updated in the same release the change ships in.
- Billing will be handled by Stripe. We will not receive or store your full card details.
- An account is one learner. A subscription attaches to the account that pays for it and covers the learners it names — the payer's own account, or the accounts in a group they administer, up to whatever limit the plan states at the time of purchase. There are no profiles inside an account.
- Being in a class costs nothing. A teacher or parent may add any number of students to a group without paying. What a subscription buys is the paid features for a named learner, not the right to see them.
- Prices, plan limits, and renewal terms will be shown before you pay, and again in a confirmation.
- You can cancel a subscription at any time from account settings or the Stripe customer portal linked from it. Cancellation stops future renewal; it does not refund any part of the current billing period.
- Cancelling never deletes your work. Progress, mastery, ratings, and anything you have written stay on your account, readable and exportable, whatever plan you are on.
Refunds, and your right to change your mind
- If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you have a statutory right to cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days. Where we begin supplying that content immediately, we will ask you to agree to immediate supply and to acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once it has begun — and we will ask that at the point of purchase, not here.
- Where that right applies and has not been waived, we will refund you.
- Otherwise, we do not refund a billing period already paid for, including partial periods. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
- Nothing in this section affects any right you have under the consumer law of the country you live in that cannot be excluded by agreement.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Suasoria for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates another person's rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another account, to our systems, or to data that isn't yours.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service — including scraping content at scale, attempting to bypass rate limits, or reverse-engineering the application beyond what applicable law expressly permits.
- Misrepresent your identity or your relationship to a child profile you administer.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide commercial access to Suasoria without our prior written agreement.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section, as described in Termination below.
6. Content and intellectual property
Ours. The lessons, exercises, curriculum structure, illustrations, design, and software that make up Suasoria are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property law. Using Suasoria gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use it for your own learning or for learners in your household or classroom — it does not give you any right to copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from the curriculum itself, except for your own offline notes or as fair use otherwise allows.
Yours. Your progress data — which lessons you've completed, which skills you've practiced — is yours. You can export it at any time from settings. We don't claim ownership of it, and we use it only to operate the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimers
Suasoria is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your particular educational goals or standards. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Suasoria is an educational tool, not a substitute for professional educational assessment, and nothing in it constitutes accreditation, certification, or a guarantee of academic outcome.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Suasoria and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service — even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to Suasoria will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) $50.
Nothing in this section limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited — for example, liability for our own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or for personal injury caused by our negligence, where applicable law makes such a limitation unenforceable.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of Suasoria or your violation of these terms — except to the extent the claim arises from our own breach of these terms or violation of law.
10. Termination
You may stop using Suasoria and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to an account that violates these terms, that we reasonably believe poses a risk to other users or to Suasoria, or where required by law. Where practical, we'll give notice first; for serious violations, we may act immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and this sentence — do survive it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Suasoria changes. If a change is material, we'll flag it — the effective date at the top will change, and we'll make reasonable efforts to notify account holders (such as an in-app notice or an email). Continuing to use Suasoria after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. If you don't agree, stop using the service and, if you hold an account, delete it.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. If a dispute arises, we'd rather resolve it directly — write to us first at the address below and we'll try to sort it out informally. If that doesn't work, any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you and we each consent to jurisdiction and venue there.
13. Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Suasoria, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
14. Contact
Questions about these terms can go to suasoria.app@gmail.com.
This document was drafted to match Suasoria's actual product behavior as of the effective date above, but it is a draft, not a substitute for review by a lawyer licensed in Michigan — particularly before you take payments, form a business entity, or face an actual dispute.
